Arrived in Addis in the evening. I had a nice flight–way too much food–had a nice seat mate and brushed up on a little Amharic. She taught me “todias” which is kind of slang for hello, maybe like “what’s up?”
Immediately went for visa and to exchange $. Big bag of donations questioned and searched by security at the airport. What?
Greeted by two people (Ayele and Emma’s uncle Tegegn) at the airport. I’m feeling good-at least I have a ride.
Tried to call home all night—and most of the next morning—Sunday evening is a blur because I was very upset that I could not call home.
